Roman public ‘deeply moved’ at Jubilee tribute concert to Ennio Morricone at Santi Ambrogio e Carlo al Corso
The fifth of the series of Jubilee Concerts – “Armonie di Speranza" - took place on Sunday, March 30 at the Church of Santi Ambrogio e Carlo al Corso, in Rome. The event was part of the cultural season "The Jubilee is Culture” and was deemed a great success with the public who had the opportunity to attend. The prestigious concert dedicated to the memory of Ennio Morricone was offered freely with no payment for tickets. The religious compositions were performed by the Orchestra Roma Sinfonietta, accompanied by the Nuovo Coro Lirico Sinfonico Romano and the Coro "Claudio Casini" of the University of Rome Tor Vergata, conducted by Maestro Gabriele Bonolis and Stefano Cucci.
The church was packed with a thousand concert-goers who showed their great enthusiasm for the performance of Morricone's most significant sacred works: "Requiem per un destino", "Missa Papae Francisci" and "Ave Maria Guaranì". Each piece was played with extraordinary mastery, transmitting to the audience the emotional and spiritual depth of the Maestro's music. The concert was not only a tribute to the figure of Morricone but also an opportunity to reflect on the universal value of his music, which is seen as being capable of transcending the boundaries of time and space.
As Archbishop Rino Fisichella put it: "The Maestro was able to deeply understand the great value that his music could have, not only as a form of artistic expression but also as a tool of comfort for those who live in difficult circumstances".
