Application form for the new “Jubilee-Tourism” visa now online
The page explaining how to obtain a special “Jubilee-Tourism” visa for travel to Italy, available for those participating in pilgrimages to Rome organized by local Churches, is now online at https://www.iubilaeum2025.va/en/pellegrinaggio/visto-pellegrini.html
In preparation for the 2025 Jubilee, the Visa Unit of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and the Vatican Dicastery for Evangelization – Section for Fundamental Questions of Evangelization in the World (DPE), have agreed on a “Modus Procedendi” to allow the issue of an entry visa to Italy for the faithful going on a pilgrimage to Rome and other sacred places in Italy.
The following useful documents are available on the page:
● the application form to be submitted to Italian Embassies or Consulates to request the visa;
● a note with practical instructions for filling out the application;
● the list of countries subject to visa requirements;
● the text of the agreement established between MAECI and DPE.
It is important to note that the procedure for requesting the special "Jubilee-Tourism" visa is reserved exclusively to pilgrims participating in a diocesan pilgrimage (or of a community within the diocese) organized by a Local Representative specifically appointed by the Diocesan Bishop.
The Local Representative, by compiling the list of participating pilgrims (using the form downloadable from this page), becomes their guarantor for the Italian Government, and has the responsibility of submitting it to the Embassy or Consulate responsible for issuing the Visa.
At the same time, the Local Representative must send a copy of the same list to the DPE as soon as possible. The copy of the list must be sent either through the Apostolic Nuncio or directly to the DPE, via email (attaching the scan in PDF of the same list of names sent to the embassy). The email address to which lists should be sent is visa@iubilaeum2025.va
Please remember that to take advantage of this procedure, application must be made well in advance. It is advisable to present the list at least 40 days before the scheduled departure of the pilgrimage. The application to the Embassy or Consulate will be blocked until the DPE has received a copy of the names and details of participants.
Notwithstanding this special arrangement, any citizen who requires an entry visa to Italy can make a standard application without using this simplified procedure.
