Italy’s home games in the Guinness Six Nations Rugby Tournament to be among the sporting events sponsored by the Jubilee
The three home matches of the Italian national rugby team in the Guinness Six Nations championship for 2025 have been included among the sporting events sponsored by the 2025 Jubilee thanks to a new accord signed by the Italian Rugby Federation and the Dicastery for Evangelization.
The offer allows all pilgrims to access – through the official portal of the event – the Azzurri’s home games at special prices for the tournament which starts this weekend. The agreement came after a meeting at the Dicastery for Evangelization between Archbishop Rino Fisichella, who is in charge of the Jubilee, and the acting Vice President of the Italian Rugby Federation, Paolo Vaccari.
After the meeting, the collaboration was evident with the official team photo of the Italian men's national team, being taken in St. Peter's Square just before they left for their first match in Scotland. Never before has an Italian national team had the opportunity to pose for a photo in the most famous square in the world.
The collaboration between the 2025 Jubilee organizers and the Italian Rugby Federation will continue in coming weeks with the presence of the official mascot of the Jubilee - Luce - at the Terzo Tempo Village set up in the Foro Italico for the matches to be held on February 8 and 23 and March 15. Then in June, Italian rugby internationalists athletes will take part in the "Jubilee of Sport" scheduled in Rome for June 14 and 15.
"I am happy that for the Jubilee we have linked up with the Italian Rugby Federation,” said the Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, Archbishop Rino Fisichella, who is responsible for organizing the Jubilee.
He added: “Many young people through the discipline of training and sport also come to understand and value the meaning of life, the importance of good relationships between people and above all they make sport a tool for dialogue and friendship between people of different nationalities.”
The Deputy Vice President of the Italian Rugby Federation, Paolo Vaccari, said. “Sport is a universal language, which can forge unbreakable bonds. Rugby has the extraordinary ability to unite teammates and opponents and to smooth out any differences which occur in the changing room or on the pitch. We are honored to be able to have our matches in the Six Nations Tournament included among the sporting events sponsored by the Jubilee. I thank, on behalf of President Duodo and the entire Council, Archbishop Fisichella for having immediately understood and appreciated the spirit that animates our sport”
