A Jubilee dedicated to digital missionaries and Catholic influencers planned for 2025
Among the jubilee events scheduled for next year in Rome there will be a special ‘Jubilee of digital missionaries and Catholic influencers’. After the first global meeting which saw influencers from all over the world gather in Lisbon in 2023 at World Youth Day, it has been announced that on 28 and 29 July 2025 the Catholic influencers of the world will meet in Rome for a special Jubilee dedicated to them. The news was announced by Monsignor Lucio Adrian Ruiz, Secretary of the Dicastery for Communication, on April 20th.
All those involved in evangelization through social media are invited to the Jubilee of Digital Missionaries, which will be held in the days immediately preceding the Jubilee of Youth. In a homily at a Mass for Catholic influencers, presided over by Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, the Prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, during WYD in Lisbon, he told those present: “Today the Church needs you, dear digital influencers, to be bearers of hope in those new spaces of social relationship made up of social media and social networks".
The Jubilee will aim to promote a sense of community and communion among digital missionaries. It will be a great opportunity for a community that shares the same mission, to meet up, with the added blessing of being able to pass through the Holy Door together in the Jubilee year. Pope Francis himself, addressing a group of digital missionaries, encouraged them to feel that sense of community, describing them as “part of the missionary life of the Church, which has never been afraid to embrace new horizons and new frontiers,” and encouraging them “with creativity and courage, to announce God's Mercy."
Full details of the gathering will shortly be available on the Jubilee website.
