Sunday 26 November Launch Of “The Jubilee Concerts - Harmonies Of Hope”
(Vatican City) - On Sunday 26 November at 6pm, at the Auditorium della Conciliazione (Via della Conciliazione, 4, Rome), the Kyiv Virtuosi Orchestra will perform Antonín Dvořák's “New World Symphony”. This is one of the events of the "Jubilee is culture" season, which is being held in preparation for the Holy Year, promoted by the Dicastery for Evangelization.
It will be the first of eight Jubilee Concerts entitled "Harmonies of Hope". In this, his last Symphony, Dvořák, a native of Bohemia, distances himself from his previous symphonic works and finds a line of writing that is less solemn and austere, and freer and more innovative. The orchestra which will perform the music is made up of a group of talented Ukrainian musicians and is directed by Maestro Dmitry Yablonsky, the world-famous cellist.
“It seems logical to me to open the season of these jubilee concerts with Dvořák's symphony,” said Archbishop Rino Fisichella, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization who has been appointed by Pope Francis to oversee the organization of the next Jubilee.
He said: “The New World Symphony recalls the theme of hope, the same theme to which we are called by the motto of the 2025 Jubilee. The Virtuosi Orchestra of Kyiv are not only extraordinary musicians, but their presence gives us the opportunity to express, in some small way, a gesture of support for Ukraine, a way of participating through the universal language of music, in the hope of a truly "new" world."
The concert is free and tickets are available while seats last. To attend the event, please book online at the appropriate section on the official Jubilee 2025 website at the link: https://events.iubilaeum2025.va/registration
